    Burner Type

There are many different types of burners that serve different purposes. Choose one by deciding how much information you need to store and how quickly you want to recover it.

    CD Duplicator

CD Duplicators read one CD and write directly onto a second.

    CD-RW

CD-RW are writable CDs that can also be erased and re-written.

    Write Speed

Write speed is the term commonly used to describe the speed at which the drive can write data.

    ReWrite Speed

Rewrite speed is the term commonly used to describe the speed at which the drive can rewrite data to a CD/DVD.

    Enclosure Type

    Internal

Internal refers to drives that are installed inside a desktop computer.

    Interface

The connection standard (like a USB or Firewire cable) through which the burner will send and receive information with other devices.

    Supported CD Formats

This refers to the types of disks that the drive will support. Many disks are not interchangeable, so it is important to choose a drive that can use the disks you want to work with.

    Recording CD Modes

These are the ways in which a CD could be written using this device. Some examples of possibilities on certain burners are Track-at-Once, Disk-at-Once, and Multi-Session. Some burners are only able to write information to a CD once, even if there is space left over for additional recording. Other burners are able to write small portions of data during several different recording sessions. "Recording CD Modes" refers to which capabilities this device has.
